    “Adapt it to your needs”

Like a menu with too many cuisines, this lyrical quip sounds almost too good to be true. Can one guided journal really provide a one-size-fits-all solution to a myriad of human needs?

“Let’s find out,” I thought, trailblazing into the Reading&Writing module of my year long Thai Language Course. Our teacher encouraged us to start a journal – that gave me the impetus to experiment with Feel Think Do.

It’s not the usual approach for a guided journal, but this little book helps me document new words, phrases and grammar. It motivates me to write about my days in greater detail, which is definitely improving my conversation skills. On a more personal level, it gave me a place to examine my frustrations and lack of self-confidence around language learning. I’m sure others can relate. Most of all, however, it took away that deer-in-the-headlights dread of staring into the abyss of an empty page.

In short, this thing has become an indispensable part of my language learning journey. After some uncertainty in the beginning, I now see that Feel Think Do is simply a process that helps you organise your thoughts. What you decide to put in, really is up to you.

    Cheers!
    Lee
